Libby is a new grandmother and great-grandmother all at once! Her daughter and son-in-law are in the process of becoming the legal custodians of Hope and her baby Andrew. Libby’s daughter and family live in Uganda as missionaries and have been a true godsend to this young women and her baby. You must read her daughter’s blog at http://lambieuganda.blogspot.com/ to understand all the horrifying details of this story.
Nonetheless, Libby, who is about to visit her new extended family in Uganda next month, asked us to quickly finish this quilt for Hope. She happened to have these fabulous and appropriate fabrics in her stash (she had acquired them at this past year’s International Quilt Show with no idea what to do with them). Then she backed this quilt with fabric saved from a lovely, soft and warm chenille bedspread since she knew that Hope is always cold even in the African climate! We quilted it in a watery pattern interspersed with hearts as a message to Hope and Andrew welcoming them into Libby’s warm and generous world.
