Can you believe that this lovely wall hanging was done by Celia on her new APQS free motion, sit-down Longarm machine, George? Celia and George only came together in March and she immediately put him to work on this interesting and creative piece she made for her bird-loving brother in law.

I was particularly drawn to the hummingbird feeder depiction.  Maybe it’s because I am rarely able to attract any of those beautiful creatures to my own feeders or maybe it’s because Celia was able to make them come alive through her inventive yet simple quilting.

One more favorite panel is this one of the ingenious squirrel who seems to think that a bird feeder is solely put there for his dining pleasure!

Come into the Studio to test out our George.

Take our Rental Certification Class, finish a charity baby quilt, get some goodies and you are ready to finish your own quilt top, just like Cindy did.  Didn’t she do a beautiful job? Her freehand design is so perfectly spaced and perfect for her simple practice piece. It will be well loved, too, when we donate it to an organization which support new born babies in need.

George by APQS

Meet Katie and her ‘lover’ George!     George is an APQS  ‘sit down’ machine especially designed to meet the needs of art quilters and those who have become comfortable with using their smaller domestic sewing machine to finish their quilt tops. Think of it as a high quality straight sewing machine with a very large opening or throat placed into a  large sturdy table, making it quite easy for large quilts to be quilted.

Katie is a proud owner of George and really loves ‘him’.  ‘He’ even sent her a congratulations card and flowers when he came to live in her home!   She and George are well suited to each other;  he is an artist in the filed of sit down machines while Katie is a true fiber artist, creating really inventive pieces of art in her studio.  She is also a dyer of fabric that she sells to the rest of us who have neither her talent or her great studio space.   If you’d like some, contact Katie at sewkate@austin.rr.com.

Katie generously opened her studio to us and allowed us to show off George.  What fun it was to play with George and get others to realize how easy, practical and a smart choice this machine is for the quilter who wants to continue to quilt while moving the fabric under the needle.
