What an amazing 2 days we’ve just had, helping to host two APQS Longarm Quilting Machines Road Shows in Austin and Houston.
This event is to be held 90 times around the country this year and brings the joy and beauty of longarm quilting to local quilters in a much more intimate setting than at large quilt shows. The machines are usually set up in a hotel meeting room where people can learn all about the machines and the products used to make quilting even more fun. Then the participants are turned loose to try out the machines to their heart’s contents. No heavy sales pressure; just a conversation between people who love quilting and those who love the machines which make the total quilting experience more personal, fulfilling and pleasant.
These pictures are from our setup in Houston but mirror what we did in Austin. For us, as sales reps for the APQS series of machines, the days starts with an early and hearty breakfast followed by a lot of lifting and hauling of boxes to set up the machines. We have learned to love box cutters, phillips head screw drives, 1/2 inch wrenches and barrel sockets and even allen wrenches! We were able to get this room with two machines and tables set up in about 2.5 hours.
Also notice the wonderful quilts on the walls. They were all done using the APQS machines by very talented quilters. This one was made by Dawn Cavanaugh, the Director of Education at APQS.
If you ever get a chance to attend one of these Road Shows, don’t pass it up! If you live in Central Texas and want to try one but can’t attend a show, we would be happy to have you come to our Studio and play with our Millennium machine.
